Setting up your own blog.

Today your work goes public. You’ll start a WordPress blog and upload your audio assignment to it.

Step one: Set up a blog. Mindy McAdams, who teaches online journalism at the University of Florida, has an excellent step-by-step guide. Pay attention to what she says about choosing blog titles and a user name. Please choose the “The Morning After” theme. We need to be working in the same theme. No every theme has the same capabilities, and it gets confusing to work through which theme can do what.

Step two: Sign up for a soundcloud account and upload your audio. While you are waiting, write your first blog post introducing your audio story. The post should be a short yet specific description of the audio story. Your main goal is to get people to listen to it, so strive to make your description intrigue the reader without being promotional.

Step three: Embed your audio under your post, using these instructions. See my next post for what yours should look like.
